Badger Shield, an open source PPE project started by the UW Makerspace, Midwest Prototyping, and Delve, was one of 29 companies and nonprofit organizations selected as finalists for the 2021 Wisconsin Innovation Award.

"The Badger Shield team is honored to receive this recognition," said Jesse Darley, principal and director of mechanical engineering at Delve. "Together with partners across the state and country, we were able to rapidly produce and distribute millions of face shields to essential workers and provide small and regional manufacturers with a reason to keep their plants running and their staffs employed during the height of the pandemic, when resources were scarce and businesses were shutting down."

A total of 331 businesses, products, and services were nominated for the award, representing startups, companies, and established businesses of all sizes and industries spanning the state of Wisconsin.

Winners will be announced at the annual awards ceremony on October 5, 2021.
