Design Concepts wins Design Value Award for Eclipse System

19 Press Release Dmi Award H1

Design Concepts recently won a third place Design Value Award from the Design Management Institute (DMI) for its work on the Pelvalon Eclipse System.

The Eclipse System is a new non-surgical option for the millions of women who suffer from Accidental Bowel Leakage (ABL). Design Concepts designed and engineered the system’s detachable pump. The award was shared with Pelvalon, the startup that created the system’s design and brought it to market, and Swope Design, which designed the system’s vaginal insert.

The 2016 Design Value Awards recognized teams that have delivered significant value through excellence in Design or Design Management practices. The 12 winners are a distinguished list of teams that include non-profit organizations, government agencies, large multinationals and regional enterprises including Kaiser Permanente, Philips, SAP and Humana.

“Working with Pelvalon and Swope on this life-changing device was an incredible experience for our team,” said Design Concepts President Dave Franchino. “An award is icing on the cake. We helped Pelvalon realize an idea that has the potential help millions of women with a stigmatizing condition have a better quality of life. These are the types of design challenges we got into the business to solve.”
