First Camp Badger for Teachers group visits Design Concepts

Design Concepts hosted 19 middle school teachers from throughout Wisconsin, providing an overview of the changing role of engineering and tour of our facility. Yesterday’s visit was part of the University of Wisconsin’s new Camp Badger for Teachers program.

Camp Badger for Teachers offers educators the opportunity to learn how to best implement engineering activities and practices in their classrooms. The professional development program is an extension of Camp Badger Exploring Engineering, a weeklong summer camp for students entering 8th grade. Since 1998, Camp Badger has created positive connections to engineering for middle school students through an adventure learning experience, exposing these students to a myriad of engineering disciplines and activities. An important part of the Camp Badger for Teachers experience is observing Camp Badger students as they discover engineering and reflecting on how those experiences could translate into learning activities in their classrooms.
